European spruce/pearwood - 640 Scale

SOLD

I am grateful to report that we have stayed safe and healthy here and have weathered the COVID-19 outbreak so far. The effect of the pandemic on the economy has introduced a level of uncertainty as far as folks’ ability to make large monetary outlays, but I’m thankful that I’ve had only one cancellation. Rather than shift everyone on the list I decided to use the open slot to build something I’ve been dreaming about for a while. Pearwood has a long history in the making of musical instruments and I have had a beautiful figured set slowly aging for years. I have paired the pearwood with a center panel of stark white holly and a beautiful top of Swiss spruce that picks up the color tones of the pearwood. Jeffrey Elliott’s open harmonic bar bracing was utilized, and paired with an aged top of this quality has yielded a concert quality instrument with an abundance of tonal color, power and clarity. As there seems to be a growing interest in shorter scale guitars, I elected to go with a 640mm scale vs. the standard 650mm. Other features include an extended fretboard, a sound port, German silver Alessi tuning machines and a zero fret. A simple Ebony binding scheme and a bold black and white rosette reinforce the graphic aesthetic of this guitar. Please note video at the bottom of this page!
